Trenching We Do in Brampton

Frequently Asked Questions
How deep does a utility trench need to be in Brampton?
It depends on the utility. Hydro secondary service is typically 600 mm minimum, Bell and Rogers 450–600 mm, natural gas 600 mm, water service to the house at least 1.5 m below grade to stay below frost. We dig to whichever depth your installer requires.
Can you trench in Brampton clay in winter?
Yes, but the top 300–600 mm freezes solid and slows the first pass. The job takes longer in January and February than in July. If the work isn’t urgent, spring or fall is more efficient.
Do I need an Ontario One Call locate before you dig?
Yes, always. It’s free, it’s the law, and we won’t start without it. Submit at ontarioonecall.ca at least five business days before you want us on site. Private locates (pool, irrigation, low-voltage) are separate and we arrange them.
Will the trench damage my lawn?
The line needs restoration but we keep it tight. Strip topsoil separately, compact backfill in lifts, replace topsoil, finish with seed or sod. Done right, the line is invisible by the next growing season.
How long does a typical trenching job take?
